Indonesian team discovers Russian crashed plane’s FDR

INDONESIAN team joining in National Search and Rescue (Basarnas) found the Flight Data Recorder (FDR) device of the crashed Russian passenger plane Sukhoi Superjet 100 on Wednesday night, Basarnas Chairman Daryatmo said here on Thursday.

INDONESIAN team joining in National Search and Rescue (Basarnas) found the Flight Data Recorder (FDR) device of the crashed Russian passenger plane Sukhoi Superjet 100 on Wednesday night, Basarnas Chairman Daryatmo said here on Thursday. "The FDR was found buried by dirt 20 meters away from the tail part of the crashed plane,” Daryatmo told a press conference here, adding that the FDR is to be investigated by Indonesian investigation team. Together with the Voice Data Recorder (VDR), the FDR was part of the plane’s Black Box equipment that records pilot’s conversation and plane’s instruments during a plane’s flight. On May 16 The Indonesian team previously found the VDR device a few days after the crash in Mount Salak, West Java on May 9 that killed all 45 people onboard among which eight were Russian crews. Daryatmo said that results of the investigation over the devices would be announced 12 months later.
