LAST year’s volleyball champions APR are aiming at successfully defending the title after winning the first two rounds. Now in the third round, APR Volleyball Club is leading the league table with nine points.In an interview with Times Sport, APR head coach Sammy Mulinge said that he wants to win the league in order to continue building the best team."My focus is to take many young players who are now doing well in league and if we win the league it will help them decide on joining and in the coming years APR will be having good players,” the Kenyan born said."If we win this title, we will go for another Africa Club Championship which is good for those young players to build their capacity and gain more experience,” he noted.The Rwanda Volleyball Federation hopes to secure a sponsorship deal from the Energy, Water and Sanitation Authority (EWSA) in order for the league to continue. APR has won two of the five rounds planned for the league. The Technical Director in Volleyball Federation, Christian Hatumimana told Times Sport that they hope to have sealed the deal with EWSA before the end of the third round. After EWSA sinks Rwf 15m in the league, it will be called EWSA Volleyball National League."We are in the final stages of the deal and I think next week the league will be continued as we wish,” Hatumimana said.
