Reigning champions APR maintained their stand at the top of the Coca Cola league table after Sunday’s 3-2 set victory over Rwanda National University at Amahoro indoor courts.

After handing off ISAE, St. Joseph, Umubano Blue Tigers and UNR in the preliminaries and Kigali Volleyball Club in the semi-finals, only the sky was the limit for the new look army side who are chasing for their second successive league title.

Although UNR claimed the first two sets; 27-25 and 25-23, APR crawled back into the game after winning the third, fourth and decisive fifth set; 25-19, 25-16 and 15-13 respectively.

Sunday’s win took APR to 160 points, widening their lead by 45 points. KVC are second with 115 points while last year’s runners up UNR and UBT are third and fourth respectively with 100 and 80 points.

In the ladies’ league, the title race has started heating up as three clubs are all tied in first place. Defending champions UNR, GS Rwaza and APEDI Rwaza are at the top with 115 points while league debutants Rwanda Revenue Authority follow closely with 110 points after claiming the second phase with a 3-1 set victory over GS Rwaza.
