MP Kantengwa to deputise in Pan-African Parliament

MP Juliana Kantengwa was on Monday elected the fourth Vice-President of the Pan-African Parliament (PAP), the legislative body of the African Union, also known as the African Parliament.

MP Juliana Kantengwa was on Monday elected the fourth Vice-President of the Pan-African Parliament (PAP), the legislative body of the African Union, also known as the African Parliament.

Kantengwa will represent the Eastern African region according to a statement sent to The New Times by the PAP, in Midrand, Johannesburg, South Africa. The legislative body of the African Union also elected a new President – MP Bethel Nnaemeka Amadi, from Nigeria, former First Vice-President to MP Dr. Moussa Idriss Ndélé, the outgoing President.

 

Amadi was the only candidate for the position after MP Béchir Chammam from Tunisia withdrew. The other Vice-Presidents elected are: First Vice-President, MP Roger Nkodo Dang, from Cameroon representing the Central African region;

 

Second Vice-President, MP Moustafa El Gendy, from Egypt, representing the Northern African region;

 

Third Vice-President, MP Loide L.Kasingo, from Namibia, representing the Southern African Region.
