Rwanda needs leaders capable of rising above petty ideological and ethnic divisions for the greater good of the Rwandan people, a senior official with a charity organisation has said.Josephine Uwamariya, ActionAid Country Director, made the remarks after the organisation’s staff paid their respects to thousands of Genocide victims buried at Murambi Memorial in Nyamagabe District. "No one has the right to take the lives of others. We must learn to ensure that this does not happen anymore, be it in Rwanda or elsewhere in the world,” she said. After laying wreaths on the mass graves, ActionAid staff toured the over 10 rooms containing bodies preserved for purposes of witnessing the evidence of the genocide crimes committed in the area. Uwamariya observed that she was shocked by what she saw."Those who were responsible for safeguarding the lives of the population are the ones who betrayed them; they are the ones who organised the killings!” she wondered. The organisation donated Rwf200 000 to the site, where over 50,000 victims are laid.
