FOR those of us who are so keen on fashion, were wowed early this month by January Jones, who attended the screening of La Révolution Bleue at the Paris Theatre in New York City wearing a digitally engineered print, made by the famous designer Mary Katrantzou, with peplum detail and, minimal gold jewels, satin Sergio Rossi peep-toe heels and a simple upswept do.Digital patterns have hit the fashion runways big time this season that, designers could not have imagined. This futuristic pattern has taken a center stage with designs in skirts, dresses and even blouses. The first time that we experienced digital print was two years ago when the most famously featured designs on the fashion show were from the late designer Alexander McQueen. He proved his genius by creating the most outstanding and extraordinary digitally printed dresses that featured a mixture of green, brown and blue reptile patterns of the antediluvian sea creature; it was a shame that he took his own life hours before his designs hit it big in the fashion runways.Fashion critics have noted that as much as digital print is now big in the fashion industry, one has to be very careful when wearing this futuristic pattern. The key thing to remember when wearing digital prints is that less is more. They advise that only one item in print is enough for one to wear and be noticed because it’s very eye-catching. As much as Alexander McQueen managed to wow fashionistas in his designs, this time round the designers have come up with even more interesting mixtures of colors and intricate patterns that almost look real. Now, what we have seen recently is that these great futuristic patterns are mostly printed in silk,a material that makes them even more delicate and beautiful to look at. But just in case we have forgotten the rules of wearing silk, whether plain or printed is that one must wear the right undergarments. There is no shortcut to this, when wearing silk smoothing underwear should be worn, so that it does not show through the silk- because silk is usually thin and clingy.Ladies, also keep in mind that when choosing a bra, it has to come with smooth lines no lace or seams please; or a full-length body wear, this way your body will be held firm and in place-otherwise you risk bearing it all courtesy of the silk.Suffice to say, digital print has so far not disappointed as we see the likes of Jessica Alba, Kim Kardashian and her sisters spotting their digital prints albeit in different versions; in fact one can say that digital print is no joke this season, if the devil of fashion herself Ann Wintour the English born Editor in Chief of the American Vogue can be spotted in a digital print dress; who are we to think otherwise? Ms. Wintour in known for her criticism when it comes to what makes fashion; remember the movie titled " the devil wears Prada” that is her and when she is seen in an outfit then, it’s a jackpot for the designer. It does not matter whether it’s a sheath dress, a skirt or a simple digital print blouse all is well this season, get something for yourself girls, time to go yonder with colors and prints to look young once again!
