Fraterne Rubangura won his third honor of the year after cruising to a two-shot victory to win the 2008 Captains’ Cup on Saturday at Kigali Golf Club.

Rubangura, 26 scored 77net with plenty of birdies and pars, ahead of Ezra Bunyeyezi and Jack Kayonga who tied at 79net.

"I am very pleased with the way things are going for me lately. I hit some good shots today and want to maintain that run throughout this season.

"I have improved my putting and I think it has become one of my strong weapons. While others were struggling to make good putts, they were coming easy for me," a satisfied Rubangura said.

It’s his third accolade of the season after the Fina Bank and MTN /Ericsson Open titles.

KGC president Ezra Bunyenyezi played his best golf in a long time to secured second place ahead of compatriot Jack Kayonga on count back. The duo had tied on 79net.

In the subsidiary categories, Julius Kayonga and Thierry Ntaganda were some of the other day’s winners.

Meanwhile, Rwanda’s top amateur golfer Jean Baptiste Hakizimana returned to winning ways with a blazing 73net to top the semi-professional category.

He also registered the day’s longest drive while Esther Mukakalisa hit the longest drive in the ladies’ category.

At the end of the prize giving ceremony, Kigali Club Golf acknowledged Computer Point for the lucrative offer and asked them to keep it coming.
