TUNIS – Rwanda’s Amuvubi Stars lost their first of two scheduled international friendly match against Libya 2-0 last evening. The two games are part of the team’s preparations ahead of the 2014 Brazil World Cup qualifier against Algeria on June 2 in Blida. The game was played at Hammam Bourguiba stadium in Tunis and ended in favour of Libya who got their goals through Khalifa Grigma (38) and Hammed El Maghabul (85). Both goals were a result of lack of concentration at the back line which was manned by Jonas Nahimana, Nirisarike Solomon, and Eric Gasana, who was later substituted for Albert Ngabo. Frederick Ndaka came on for Jean Claude Iranzi in the second period.Grigma scored the opener when Nahimana and Nirisarike hesitated to clear a deep cross, gifting the striker a chance to shoot past Jean Claude Ndoli. After recess, Amavubi returned strongly, leading proceedings with Haruna Niyonzima, Jean Baptiste Mugiraneza, Olivier Karekezi, Dady Birori playing to near perfection but their efforts were let down by poor finishing. The Libyans gained momentum towards the end of the second half with Saad stretching an aerial pass to Maghabui, whose mesmerising run towards the goal ended with a beautiful taken second goal North African side.Meddie Kagere, Birori and Karekezi had Amvubi’s best chances but their attempts came to nothing.Amavubi will have just three days to get over the loss and concentrate on the second and final friendly against hosts nation Tunisa on Sunday.
