Editor,It is now a week after the shocking death of Rwanda international Patrick Mafisango. I would like to extend my sincere condolences to all of Mafisango family members, friends and colleagues as well as all his fans all over Africa as we mourn the loss of one of Africa’s great players.Like many have eulogized him, Mafisango was indeed an inspiration to many; he has made all the teams he played for, their fans and his peers proud of his contribution to the Beautiful Game. His sudden death, which remains a tragedy, should serve as a reminder to everyone about how precious life is and how we should value the little time we have to pursue our dreams. Mafisango was living his dream as a great footballer and will always be remembered as one of Rwanda and Africa’s greats. For Amavubi, there’s no doubt the national team will dearly miss his services, beginning with next month when they play three World Cup and African Cup of Nations qualifiers. His fighting spirit on the pitch and warmth off it will be remembered for long.Charles Mwendi
