Lately the Hollywood cinema industry, on one hand has been producing some very interesting new movies and on the other hand running out of ideas. Producers are instead going back to old stories such as the famous –‘Snow White’ and the ‘Evil Queen’- and re-casting it. Two such movies have come on screen, each one bringing a new twist and some comic intervals to this fairy tale, but the fact remains that the ‘Evil Queen’ will always ask the mirror on the wall: ‘‘Who is the fairest of all?’It seems this question is asked even now by the majority of the people in the world –men and women- standing in front of the mirror every day. The fact that we know the mirror does not reply seems not to be an issue; our image reflected in the mirror gives us an immediate response. If not, with the first steps outside the house, people do tell you how you look, sometimes with words of flattery, other times with one critical look that feels worse than a thousand words! Were we not all created by the same Creator who, in His own wisdom wanted His creation to look different and colorful? Unfortunately when becoming a bit ‘too comfortable,’ human beings seem to take it upon themselves to decide who is going to be the fairest of them all. It is a cruel world of discrimination that has pushed many people to dislike their looks, because the few in charge have decided who should be called beautiful. How can one make it to these charts when standards of perfection are measured by movie stars and celebrities who earn millions and who have to look like the millions they spend trying to look good? What chance does an average person have to compete with them?
