If we did not keep the City clean, the economic success story would soon change. Investment, business and jobs would leave and people would not enjoy the wide variety of activities available in this city.

I’ve heard from so many neighbours that litter is one of the big problems we face in our area, especially along Nyabugogo road. So, based on those conversations, I wanted to share an idea for an anti-litter campaign. There is much that the city needs to do directly, such as placing more trash cans, scheduling more frequent emptying of trash cans, supporting a "clean and safe" program among other things.

There is much more that can be said about the effects of litter, and how it creates a self-perpetuating image that encourages more littering. And loitering. And quality-of-life crimes. And downward from there. The core of the problem is that a litter-strewn street suggests that people just don’t care, and anything goes. The idea is to have a simple message--Stop Litter!
