90 police officers complete special force training

Kirehe- At least 90 police officers Thursday completed a four-month Special Forces Training of Trainers (ToT) programme in Nasho, Kirehe District.Throughout the four months, , participants were taken through drills such as laying and suppressing ambushes, freeing hostages, individual tactics and self defence as well as long-range shooting.During the pass-out parade, the graduates demonstrated skills acquired in selfdefence and use of a variety of objects to subdue violent criminals.In his closing remarks, the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Emmanuel K. Gasana lauded the participants for the discipline and commitment shown during the training, while commending the trainers for their efforts.He asked them to put into practice the skills and knowledge acquired from the training to further ensure a secure and peaceful country for all."Training is part of the RNP strategic policy to build a force which is professional and disciplined with physical and mental readiness.” He reiterated the need for qualified police officers with diverse skills to handle emerging crimes such cyber crimes, human trafficking and drug trafficking among others.The representative of trainers commended the trainees for their enthusiasm during the course of the training."We hope the skills they have acquired shall be shared with their fellow servicemen to better serve Rwandans,” he said.At least 1,072 police officers have undertaken Special Forces training.
