A Genocide suspect appearing before a past Gacaca session. The New Times / File.

Editor,I wish to respond to a report released this month by a London-based think tank regarding the performance of Gacaca Courts. I think the report is good and balanced. I think the Gacaca justice system delivered its intended objectives and was the right solution for the complex nature of the cases related to the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi. It is a big lesson to all African states.I want through your newspaper to congratulate Gacaca courts’ leadership and all Rwandans for your willing commitment to make the well deserved home grown justice system a success. I also appreciative the international researchers that carried out this report which is reported here to have relatively provided empirical evidence to international forums  reference material that gives deserved credit to the Rwandan social problem-solving model.
