Rwanda spends an estimated Rwf1 billion on HIV/Aids drugs every year,a senior health official has said.

Dr Sabin Nsanzimana, the Coordinator of HIV and Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs) Care and Treatment Department, told The New Times that the cost of anti-retroviral therapy varies from one patient to another. However, experts estimate the average cost of therapy at Rwf12,000 per patient."Currently, there are over 100,000 who are on anti-retroviral therapy. ARVs coverage is now more than 90 per cent, up from 30 per cent five years ago.”
