Sortilegio, literally meaning ‘Love Spell’, is a Mexican Telenovela (Soap Opera) produced by Carla Estrada starring Jacqueline Bracamontes and William Levy.The soap depicts deceit, jealous, love and how wealth, inheritance, secrets can cause chaos amongst family members. William Levy (Alejandro) inherits his father‘s wealth while his older step brother Bruno become insanely jealous that he is willing to kill Alejandro and get out of the picture so that he can acquire the wealth he inherited. Bruno hires a truck driver to crash into Alejandro causing a terrible crash off the road. Everyone believes Alejandro to be dead.Alejandro’s family discovers a marriage in his name and call Maria (Jacqueline Bracamontes) to break the news. She immediately goes to Lombardo’s because she was devastated. She meets Alejandro’s family for the first time and discovers that they are actually rich. Soon after meeting the family, she discovers that Bruno was the man she met, and he reveals his plans to her, promising to take care of her and share his soon to be riches. Heartbroken and horrified she leaves to go home, but Bruno chases after her to Campeche and threatens to frame her father for drug dealing. Miraculously Alejandro survived the accident and returns home and meets Maria who he doesn’t remember ever marrying.  Though the doctors and his family tell Alejandro he has amnesia, he discovers that something is wrong and starts to investigate and eventually forces the truth out of Maria. Alejandro plays along pretending that he is truly married to Maria but later they later develop feelings for one another.The soap opera is shown on Star Times’ STVE2 daily 9pm-11pm with recaps during the day throughout the week.
