At least 596,196 new jobs were created in Angola in the 2009/2011 period, the official Angop news agency reported on Tuesday.The data were revealed by National Director of Employment and Professional Training Leonel Bernardo on the sidelines of a forum on "Job Market Data”.  Bernardo said most of the new job opportunities occurred in commerce, agriculture and fisheries, followed by hotels and tourism. "Of course the country has been experiencing a growth trend in other sectors of the economy, but what matters is to continue to work toward improvement in all sectors,” he said.The official said the capital city of Luanda tops the list of job generators followed by the provinces of Benguela and Huila. The forum was intended to share experience on market employment data and assess the evolution of job market data of major economic sectors in the 2009/2012 period.Angola is one of the countries with the highest unemployment rate in the world with official and independent estimates putting the jobless rate at 30 percent to 50 percent of the 18.5 million population.
