Iraq, Uganda friendlies called off

Rwanda’s Football Association (Ferwafa) has called off the scheduled Amavubi Stars’ international friendly matches against Iraq and Uganda.

Rwanda’s Football Association (Ferwafa) has called off the scheduled Amavubi Stars’ international friendly matches against Iraq and Uganda.According to the initial arrangements, Amavubi were due to play against Iraq national team this week and Uganda Cranes as part of preparations for the 2013 Africa Nations’ Cup and 2014 World Cup qualifiers.But addressing a news conference on Monday, Amavubi head coach Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojovic revealed that the Iraq match was called off because the Iraq FA wanted the game to be played this Thursday, but the Serbian could not leave without the Police and Isonga players, who play their final league match on Friday.Iraq national team is currently managed by Brazilian legend Zico.The Cranes friendly was called off because Ugandan FA (FUFA) also wanted the match to be played mid next week at the time when Amavubi will be in Tunisia for training camp before the first leg of the 2014 World Cup qualifier against Algeria on June 2 in Algiers.Rwanda leaves for Tunisia this Sunday where they play two friendly matches against Libya on May 23 and Tunisia on May 27.
