FORMER Amavubi Stars’ captains Hamad Ndikumana a.k.a Katauti and Patrick Mafisango have been recalled to the national team after years out of in the cold. The pair is part of the 32-man provisional squad named by head coach Milutin Sredojovic ‘Micho’ to start preparations for the upcoming 2014 Brazil World Cup and 2013 Nations Cup qualifiers.Ndikumana, 33, who re-signed for Primus league side Rayon Sports after being released by Cyprus’ APOP Kinyras Peyias early this year, was part of the famous Amavubi team which played at the 2004 Africa Nations Cup in Tunisia. With 51 appearances for Rwanda, the experienced defender is the most capped Amavubi player, and will be eager to add to his tally of international caps under Sredojovic. He last played for Amavubi in 2009 and has since been ignored by successive coaches on disciplinary grounds, which stem from his fallout with the former Ferwafa administration of Brig. Gen. Jean Bosco Kazura.Mafisango, who features for Tanzanian league champions Simba SC, returns to the Amavubi fold after a year on the sidelines also due to poor discipline and dip in form.Other new faces include; Hamdan Bariyanga (Etincelles), Olivier Kwizera (Isonga) and François Hakizimana (Isonga). The rest of the players have either featured in the preliminary round of the 2014 World Cup qualifiers, 2013 Africa Nations Cup qualifier or Cecafa Challenge Cup finals held in Dar es salaam last year.
