Gasabo and Bugesera won the just-concluded national Sitting Volleyball Championship in men and women’s categories, after beating Gisagara and Nyarugenge respectively in the finals held at Gisagara Gymnasium over the weekend.

Gasabo men’s team clinched the title after beating defending champions Gisagara 3-0 (26-24,25-19,25-16) while Bugesera retained the women’s trophy after sweeping Nyarugenge district team 3-0 (25-14,25-22,25-22) in the final on Sunday.

Elsewhere, Musanze beat Rusizi 2-0 (25-19 25-22) to win the third place in men’s championship while, in women’s category, Gicumbi won the third place after beating Musanze 2-1 (25-21,17-25,5-10).
Sitting volleyball is a form of volleyball for athletes with disabilities. As opposed to standing volleyball, sitting volleyball players must sit on the floor while playing.
