EditorOscar Kabatende’s article in The New Times, May, 15, about the questionable plans by the Rwanda Social Security Board [RSSB] to increase the minimum age for early retirement from 55 to 60 years, as well as creating a ceiling on how much can be paid out to pensioners, was spot on.The article exposed the meanness and injustice that officials at the RSSB are pushing for through a draft law that’s under consideration in parliament. I only wish to know whether RSSB have a private competitor. Also, I wonder if it’s in the law that we must pay our pensions to one big corporation called RSSB. Are there any private alternative one can go to? I hope MPs notice the dangers of the Board’s move and reject it at once. Prudence should be exercised as this may affect many generations to come if such legislation was to be passed.RugambaKigali
