Bufalloes 67-0 Sharks Lion der Fer 36-6 MuhangaCHAMPIONS Buffaloes have laid a marker on what their rivals should expect after beating their closest rivals Sharks 67-0 in the opening game of the rugby league played on Sunday at Amahoro stadium.Sharks sent shock waves early this year after winning their own organised tournament, and Gerald Nsenga’s side were up for revenge with their experienced duo of Benjamin Makombe, Jean Baptiste Itanzi and Vincent Kamali.Kamali led Bufalloes’ charge with two tries, while Bikamba, Itanzi, Stephen, Makombe and Aime Ndahirwa added one try apiece.The other match played on the first day of the 2012 season league that pitted Nyamirambo’s Lion der Fer against new league entrants Muhanga, which the former won 36-6.The new boys put on a good show in the first period, which ended scoreless and took the first initiative in the second half, scoring the first penalty, but Lion der Fer’s experience and superiority shone through, coming from behind to win 36-6. Seven clubs are taking part in this year’s national championship and they include: Puma, Sharks, Buffaloes, Lion der Fer, Muhanga, Grizzlies and Tumba College of technology.Nsenga, who doubles as the Rwanda Rugby Union technical director told Times Sport that they are sourcing for sponsorship from Hima Cement for the league. "We are in talks with Hima Cement but there is no final decision at the moment, but we are optimistic that a deal may happen for the league this season,” he revealed.
