SHE stands at 5.65 and weighs approximately 47 kgs. Sonia Gisa is a 21 year old Rwandan fashion model based in Ixelles, Belgium. She was born in Karongi, western province to Gabriel Gashi and Esperance Butanga. She talked to The Sunday Times’ Martin Bishop about her career and future plans. When did you start modeling?  I started in 2010 with Top Model Belgium Contest, one of the biggest contests in Belgium. We were like 1600 from all provinces of the country, 400 made it to the semi-final Fashion show. I was one of 172 finalists and I finished 2nd in my category with a silver medal. Since then, have I never looked back. What does it take to be a model? To be a good model you need to have good Communication skills, interesting face and a good in shape body, training and of course being motivated. Additionally, a fashion model must be mature enough to know his/her goals and objectives within this demanding career and a clear understanding of the modeling business. When did you decide that you wanted to be a model?I always wanted to be a model, it was my childhood dream. Why did you choose this career? Why not? Modeling can be financially rewarding and can also provide many other benefits. Not so many careers can provide such fun and experiences while exploring new cultures/countries, meeting new people and most importantly being part of the fascinating fashion industry.Who is your favorite fashion model and why?I adore Tyra Banks; she just has such a "Don’t mess with me” attitude. She’s full of talent and she’s capable of pretty much everything. She’s such a dare-devil, and she is absolutely stunning. She’s all natural; she’s my source of inspiration. You’re a model. You don’t eat then, right? When people find out that I’m a model, they quickly assume that I have an eating disorder. This is false, however, as an appearance-only based profession; you have to watch what you eat. Modeling it’s solely based on the way you appear on camera and how a piece of clothing looks on you.
