Mafisango could return for Amavubi

AMAVUBI Stars head coach Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojovic has been impressed with the form of Tanzanian-based midfielder Patrick Mafisango, who plays for league champions Simba SC.Micho watched the Tanzania premier league mother of derbies on Monday as Simba handed their archrivals Young Africans a terrible five-goal demolition to wind up their title winning season in style at the National Stadium in Dar es Salaam.The Amavubi tactician, who is set to assemble his team for next month’s 2014 World Cup and 2013 African Cup of Nations qualifiers, was in the stands to asses the performance levels of both Simba’s Mafisango and Yanga’s Haruna Niyonzima.Uganda’s Emmanuel Okwi scored a brace with Felix Sunzu, goalie Juma Kaseja and Mafisango netting the other goals to keep Simba fans in frenzy of celebrations in the stands.After watching the derby, Micho said, "I was really impressed with Mafisango’s performances and I think he is a good player, who I believe will add something to the team if he gets the chance.”"I have talked to him regarding his discipline and if he is able to keep it good, then we may consider him for the upcoming qualifiers,” added the Serb.The former APR and Atraco star, who is currently in Sudan with Simba for the CAF Confederation Cup second round return leg match against Al Ahly Shandy, finished the just concluded season as the third top scorer in the Tanzanian league. The defender cum midfielder has also scored three goals for Simba in the Confederation Cup.  Simba have one foot into the next round following a 3-0 win in the first leg match.He has netted 12 league goals from midfield, seven behind Azam`s striker John Bocco, who won the league’s golden boot award with 19 goals in 26 appearances.Micho, who is expected to name a 24-man squad for a North African tour next week, will be hoping to use Mafisango for the first time since taking over the reign last October.Rwanda tackles Libya and Tunisia in warm-up matches on May 23 and 26 ahead of a 2014 Brazil World Cup qualifiers.
