Producers and dealers in animal feeds have been called upon to ensure only quality animal feeds get onto the country’s market. The call was made Monday by the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Agriculture and Animal Resources (MINAGRI), Ernest Ruzindaza, during a one-day meeting that brought together stakeholders."The quality of animal feeds you produce and distribute to farmers should lead to an increase in production,” Ruzindaza said.Officials from Rwanda Agricultural Board (RAB) the current prices for animal feeds was quite expensive which they claim force farmers to buy cheap feeds that are of poor quality.Dr Jean Jacques Mbonigaba the Director General of RAB, said they will work with Business Development Centers (BDC) across the country to help agro-business dealers design viable projects that would attract banks to give them loans.He said currently there is at least one agro-business dealer in every sector countrywide.The Ministry requested dealers to form a federation to enable the ministry provide timely advice and assistance.
