Editor,I read in The New Times of yesterday a story that Police forces of Rwanda and Burundi had agreed to strengthen bilateral cooperation as a way of eliminating threats of emerging cross-border crimes. There is no way cross border crimes can be eliminated without cooperating with neighboring states. Many a time people commit crimes from one country and escape to neighboring countries. However, once regional countries share information, improve monitoring, and train robust joint forces, those who commit crimes will be apprehended quickly. Therefore, Burundian and Rwandan Police forces need to be applauded for partnering to fight crime.Such cooperation has yield positive results in the past where some fugitives were indentified and arrested.
