Editor,I wish to react to an article under entitled, "where are our cultural creatives?” by Diana Mpyisi, which appeared in your newspaper a week or so ago.I also discussed the issue regarding the lack of nurturing for cultural and artistic activities in the country’s education curricula. The response was that the government focus was to create an income-generating, knowledge-based economy. In other words, the economic relevance of art, culture, theater or literature has yet to be demonstrated for anything to change. It is an interesting paradox considering the strong desire in Rwanda to promote innovation and entrepreneurship.
