APART from football, cycling has continued to be the most improved sport in the country after staying true to their target of organising a race every month this year.The cycling federation has secured a Rwf 5m sponsorship deal from Insurance company Soras to host the annual Ascension de mille collines tour slated for May 20th.The 130km race from Huye to Kigali will attract over 60 riders and is also expected to be used as preparations for the Tour of Eritrea that will run from May 30 to June 6."Our target is to give our riders as many competitive races as possible which is crucial when they are going for continental races,” said Aimable Bayingana, the president of the national cycling federation.Two races are on the cards next month. The national cycling championship has been brought forward to June in accordance with the new UCI (International Cycling Union) rules that requires all national cycling races to be held in June.The Kwita Izina cycling tour will also be held from June 10-11. Rwanda Development Board is the main sponsor of the race which has now been incorporated on the UCI calendar as a 2:2 race.
