WITH Police nearing a first league title, Coach Goran Kopunovic has denied claims that he may leave at the end of the end of the season. The 45 year old is currently being courted by clubs in Vietnam and has one year left on his contract. In a telephone interview with Times Sport, the former Serbian striker said he is concentrating on Police’s remaining matches and would want to continue being in charge of the team after his contract runs out."It is true some clubs want me but I cannot comment any further than that. My priority at the moment is to make sure Police win all their remaining matches,” Kopunovic said. The law and order enforcers are two points behind APR with two games in hand and travel to Rusizi on Sunday to play against bottom placed Espoir, who have already been relegated but Police have not been in action for a month, something that Goran fears might be a detriment."They (Espoir) are already relegated but that might be the dangerous part of it. They have nothing to lose and we last played a competitive match a month ago. We have to be careful with our approach to the tie,” Goran added. The last time a club was involved in fierce title race with APR was in the 2008/9 season when Atraco, under the stewardship of Ugandan coach Sam Timbe, were in the form of their lives. The club which was on a treble hunt of Cecafa Cup, league and Peace cup pushed APR to the very last of the season when they only needed a win to dethrone the military side but ended up folding up on the last day when they drew with Marines while APR grabbed a famous away win against Mukura. Will Police keep their nerves and go on to win the title, or they will crack along the way?
