Pope Francis praying for Rwanda flood victims

Pope Francis has expressed his sorrow and promised prayers for the victims of the heavy floods that devastated the Western, Northern, and Southern provinces, resulting in the loss of 130 people.

According to Vatican News, Pope Francis sent his condolences to those affected in a telegram addressed to the Apostolic Nuncio to Rwanda, Archbishop Arnaldo Catalan.

On Thursday, May 4, the Pope said he was "deeply saddened to learn of the loss of life and destruction caused by the recent flooding in the western and northern provinces of Rwanda.”

Pope Francis also expressed his "spiritual closeness with all those suffering in the wake of this disaster.”

He offered his assurance of prayers for the dead, injured, and displaced, as well as those engaged in recovery efforts.

After the tragic weather conditions that started on the night of Tuesday, May 2, claiming the lives of 130 people and destroying lots of property including thousands of houses, religious leaders countrywide are making outstanding contributions in the ongoing rescue activities.
