Mukura 1-0 APRSOUTHERN Province giants Mukura proved a nut to break when they halted APR’s surge for the Primus national Football league title following a 1-0 victory yesterday at Kamena grounds.Jean Bosco Harolimana scored a 15th minute goal which could not be overturned by the military side despite dominating the game.Ugandan born Mike Shyaka played an impressive role in the midfield for Mukura while Corneille Murwanashyaka missed crucial chances to extend the lead for the hosts.The military side gained control in the second half, and came close to scoring with late chances from Selemani Ndikumana, Jean Baptista Mugiraneza, Olivier Karekezi and Dan Wagaluka.The win for Mukura enhanced their fresh bid for the title. Mukura has 42 points and stand in third position with 21 matches played this season. With three games remaining to the end of the season, Mukura is among three clubs gunning for the league title.APR, who lost crucial points, are still in the commanding seat with 46 points, two points ahead of their closest rivals Police.However, Police are seen as the potential favourites to win the title with four matches on the cards compared to its rivals.The victory against Espoir, Marines, Mukura and Isonga in their remaining games will almost certainly see Police FC claim their first league crown in 11 years.APR still have two matches lined up against Kiyovu on May 6 and Nyanza on May 12, respectively, to the end of the season.While Mukura, who have three matches remaining, will host AS Kigali and SC Kiyovu on May 6 and 12 before travelling to Kicukiro for their final league game against Police on May 15.
