Six murder suspects arrested

RUSIZI — Police at Kamembe in Rusizi district have arrested five suspects in connection with the murder of a genocide survivor, Odetta Mukashema, 27.

Mukashemana was killed at her home last Friday and her head cut off.

Police identified the suspects, among them the husband of the deceased, Evariste Musabyimana, 30, Ezechiel Minani Alias Rasta, 30, a resident of Bugarama sector, Rusizi district, Katabwe Mukembezi alias Doctor, 26, a Congolese national, also a resident of Bugarama sector, Samuel Mukyeshimana ,31 and Fidele Dushimimana alias Kazungu (25).

"All the prime suspects in the murder of the late Mukashema have been arrested and they are now in our police custody here at Kamembe police post. We have been hunting them since April 27," the District Police Commander, Superintendent Francis Muheto told The New Times yesterday.

The suspects were reportedly arrested from various places in Bugarama sector in Rusizi where they were hiding.
