Tanzania’s women football team, Twiga Stars, are proposing to play a friendly match against Rwanda in preparation for their Africa women championship qualifier against Ethiopia on May 26.Tanzania Football Federation information officer, Boniface Wambura  was quoted in the Tanzanian press saying that they have plans to play against one of the neighbouring countries after their scheduled friendly against Zimbabwe fell off.He said efforts are being made to see if the team could play Rwanda, Uganda or Kenya to enable the technical bench assess the players.For his part, team coach Boniface Mkwasa said the team was slowly shaping up and regaining fitness, which, he said, was a major problem when the team started the training camp."I am happy that the team is slowly improving and we should be ready for the game,” he said. Twiga Stars will face the Ethiopians on May 26, according to the fixture released recently by the Confederation of African Football.They marched into this stage of the continental qualifiers with a 5-2 drubbing of Namibia on aggregate. Should they see off Ethiopia, Mkwasa’s girls will book a place in the 2012 finals to be held in Equatorial Guinea.Rwanda’s national women football team lasted played two years ago when it was eliminated from African qualifiers by Uganda. However, coach Grace Nyinawumuntu is optimistic that with potential the country has potential in women football, it’s up to the federation to assemble and prepare the team if this friendly match is approved.
