CHAMPIONS, APR moved within a point of league leaders Police after a hard fought 2-1 win over Espoir on Wednesday.Olivier Karekezi and Jean Baptiste Mugiraneza scored for the military side while Pappy Nsabimana grabbed one for the visitors.APR now have 43 points, one point adrift of Police with 4 matches to go against Rayon Sport, Mukura, Kiyovu and Nyanza.Despite such tough encounters, APR captain Olivier Karekezi, who is also the leading top scorer in the league with 12 goals is adamant they have the players to win all their remaining ties."It is a difficult task to win against three of the biggest clubs in the country. But that is the nature of expectation in APR. We are required to win all matches that we play.” the Amavubi captain said.If APR win all their remaining matches and Police slip up, the military side will have won their 4th consecutive title and their 13th league crown in 16 years.Meanwhile there was controversy on Wednesday afternoon when Isonga failed to turn up for their league tie against Police. Police players and match officials waited for the youthful side in vain before the referee declared the match aborted. When Times Sport sought out Isonga chairman Augustin Munyandamusta for an explanation, he said that he had written to Ferwafa on the eve of the game explaining why his team would not turn up."The majority of my players, including other staff were part of the U-20 delegation that was in Namibia for the U-20 qualifiers and only arrived in the country on Monday night. There is no way they would have lined up against police in just over 24 hours. We notified Ferwafa on April 17, that it would be impossible to play this league match but they replied a day before the match refusing to heed to our request” Munyandmusta said. The football body is expected to take a decision today.
