Captain Eric Dusingizimana lost the toss to his Malian counterpart Ichaka Fofana, who opted to field first and in walked Rwanda’s opening pair-Dusingizimana together with his assistant Andre Kayitera.

Impressively striking 41 runs off 55 balls not out, Dusingizimana inspired his side to their first victory at the week-long tournament, which ideally should motivate them into today’s games against Cameroon and Morocco.

Bob Bashir Songa was also impressive with 24 runs off 24 balls and most notably when Rwanda took to the field, youthful Derrick Bayingana was the highlight with four wickets for three runs in four overs. Rwanda, who by press time were in action in the second game against Gambia, needs to win all its seven games or lose just one to make it to Division 2.
