This brings the team’s progress to 1-1.APR, however, has to remain composed ahead of their upcoming games which will be against defending champions Al Ahly from Egypt and Tunisia’s Esperance. Both have won their first two games.Of the 21 participating teams at this tournament, only four teams secured their second wins in their respective groups to qualify for the quarterfinals that will see the top two go to the next round from each group. These are hosts Etoile du Sahel, Esperance, Al Ahly and Algeria’s Bejaia.Likewise in the ‘group of death’ (Pool B), only two of the six teams will make it to the next round which means APR has to win two more games including an upset against either Esperance or Al Ahly which realistically is an uphill task.Coincidentally, in all the nine games that were played on Sunday all the winning teams won with a 3-0 margin and did not concede any set. Statistically, APR and Cameroun’s FAP are the only teams that won outside North Africa.
