KIGALI - Twenty five senior officers from the Nigerian Armed Forces Command and Staff College arrived in Rwanda yesterday for a 6-day study tour, Rwanda Defence Forces (RDF) spokesman Maj. Jill Rutaremara has said.

The officers who are undergoing a course at the Nigerian college come from four different countries; Nigeria, Ghana, Niger and Liberia. They all arrived Saturday.

"They are here to draw lessons from what Rwanda has achieved. Their tour is to study Geopolitics and they will visit several places including the ORTPN (the Rwanda Tourism Office) among other areas,” the army spokesman said.

The delegation is led by Brig Gen A. A Ilogho, the director of the Simulation Centre at the college. The students will also pay a courtesy call on the RDF Chief of General Staff, Gen James Kabarebe and thereafter receive a briefing at the RDF headquarters in Kimihurura.

They are also expected to pay a visit to the National Heroes Acre in Remera. He said that Rwanda was picked as a country of interest by the students who are also accompanied by their instructors.

The officers will also attend briefings by different national institutions, including ministries, the Gacaca courts and the National Unity and Reconciliation Commission (NURC). They will leave the country on May 3.
