Junior Wasps off to a perfect start

Rwanda’s Junior Wasps made a good start to the journey to the finals tournament of the 18th Africa U-20 Championships after beating Namibia 2-0 in the first leg match of the first round played at the Sam Nujoma Stadium in Windheok on Saturday.

2013 AYC qualifiersNamibia    0-2     RwandaTanzania    3-1     SudanMorocco    5-0     MauritaniaUganda      4-0  MozambiqueZimbabwe  4-0     BotswanaRwanda’s Junior Wasps made a good start to the journey to the finals tournament of the 18th Africa U-20 Championships after beating Namibia 2-0 in the first leg match of the first round played at the Sam Nujoma Stadium in Windheok on Saturday.Following a first half goalless draw, the junior wasps scored the all important away goals in the second half from skipper Emery Bayisenge and Kipson Atuheire.The win puts Rwanda in pole position to qualify to the next round ahead of the second leg which will be played in the weekend of May 4-6.The Junior wasps are expected in the country tonight aboard Rwandair from Johannesburg. If the Junior Wasps maneuver their way past Namibia, they will face West African giants Mali in July in the second round.Elsewhere, Tanzania (Ngorongoro Heroes) beat Sudan 3-1 in Dar es Salaam while Uganda’s Hippos smashed Mozambique 4-0 in Kampala.The marathon qualifiers for Algeria 2013 will end in October after fifty-eight games.The finals will take place between March 16 and 30 next year, with eight teams participating. The top four teams in the Algeria finals will qualify for the finals of the World Cup Under-20 Championship scheduled for June, next year in Turkey.
