Police has widened its hunt for human traffickers, by writing to Interpol in China, requesting to hunt down suspected human traffickers.

This comes days after Police arrested two people suspected of trafficking Rwandan girls to China for commercial sex work on the pretext of getting them genuine employment.The Chinese embassy also announced new stringent measures for Rwandans seeking visas to China.  This is aimed at forestalling any possibilities of human trafficking to the country. Human trafficking is reported to be one of the crimes whose rate is increasing. Seven cases of human trafficking were registered in the country, according to 2011 police report.The new measures by the Chinese embassy will inevitably help to protect people especially young ladies who would otherwise be vulnerable to exploitation by the human trafficking racket.The cases that were reported to police, are a result of suspicion being raised by the manner in which the would-be victims of human trafficking were being treated. The conditions of their travel were too good to be without blemish. Individuals and communities can play a role in fighting the crime.It is therefore vital that for cases of human trafficking to be unearthed and prosecuted, an element of individual and community vigilance is needed.

  Whereas the number of cases have not reached alarming levels, community vigilance remains vital in providing information and nipping the problem in the bud so as to avoid the possibility of such cases increasing.
