GOVERNMENT is set to spend Rwf500m on the denomination of some 2,600 public roads in Kigali City in the next three months. This comes barely a week after cabinet approved a Ministerial order determining the denomination of public roads in Kigali city, where the roads will be named using numerical and alphabetical codes. The coding will indicate the abbreviation of the city, district, and the number of the road, house or building. "Since naming a road after a place or a person does not show where someone is heading or coming from, for example ‘ku Giporoso’, it is paramount that the system comes in place,” Dr. Alex Nzahabwanimana, the State Minister in the Ministry of Infrastructure in charge of Transport stated.
