One of George Clooney’s best performances as a descendant of one of Hawaii’s first white land-owning families, who must decide whether to open up a vast tract of virgin forest on Kauai for tourist and condo development.

This decision comes at the same time his wife has had a boating accident and is in a coma. Having devoted most of his attention to business, he now must learn to be a single parent of two daughters while also dealing with the family’s urgent desire to close the multi-million-dollar land deal.
