Editor, Allow me to respond to the story, “Low interconnection fees trigger cheaper calling rates”, which was published in yesterday’s issue of The New Times.
Editor,Allow me to respond to the story, "Low interconnection fees trigger cheaper calling rates”, which was published in yesterday’s issue of The New Times. Some crucial information was not captured in the story. The real cost of Interconnection is Rwf5.5. The interconnect charge at 60 ... by MTN and other telecoms is too high for the end consumer. The regulator should also protect the interests of the end consumer. Why pay 60 when the rates are set at 30 and the cost is Only 5.5? We are being overcharged at least 10 times! It is cheaper to call Amsterdam or New York than to call your sister in Nyamirambo; if she’s on a different network than yours. That part of the competition is certainly not helping national development.Albert RudatsimburwaRwanda
