Editor,The Public Service Commission (PSC) has announced it is conducting investigations into allegations of irregularities in the recruitment procedures of public servants in various public institutions. It’s imperative that everything is done to ensure fairness and transparency in the public service, especially in the recruitment processes. It’s also important that everyone who enters the civil service does so on merit, through a transparent and competitive screening process. That does not only augur well with our government’s broad policy of promoting meritocracy and equality, but it also has a direct bearing on the performance of public institutions. In Rwanda, nepotism, bribery, favouritism and any other form of corruption should not be tolerated, and I strongly believe that if PSC carried out a thorough probe they would unearth so much rot in several institutions. The PSC must emphasise on recording interviews to minimising the escalating number of irregularities.Angelina NgobokaRulindo
