Dear Editor,

In order to prepare Rwandan children for a broader East Africa, it is necessary that the curricula within the member countries to be harmonized early enough so as to prepare children for academic excellence.

As far as primary school education is concerned, the six year duration earmarked for primary school graduates should be uniform so that the graduates from either of the five member countries are at the same academic level.

The eight -four- four (8- 4 -4) system in Kenya could be harmonized to match with the rest. Ordinary level in Rwanda commonly known as Tronc commum can also be made to match with the rest of regional member countries.

This will help children from Rwanda to acquire the relevant education which will empower them with the necessary skills, and offer them real professionalism.
