Sezibera to launch EAC CEO’s Forum

The East Africa Community is set to launch the Chief Executive Officers’ Forum as one of the ways to increase the contribution of the business sector to East Africa’s development.

The East Africa Community is set to launch the Chief Executive Officers’ Forum as one of the ways to increase the contribution of the business sector to East Africa’s development.The forum will be launched by the EAC Secretary General Amb. Dr. Richard Sezibera today at the Nairobi Serena Hotel in Kenya.A statement from the EAC shows that the Secretary General’s Regional CEO Forum is a unique platform that will bring together CEOs of regional businesses with the EAC Secretary General for regular dialogue on how to improve business and trade environment to increase competitiveness and productivity and boost economic growth in the region. The forum will bring together CEO forums in the five member countries of Uganda, Rwanda, Kenya, Burundi and Rwanda.Amb. Sezibera says the private sector contributes at least 80 percent to the regional economy in terms of wealth creation, poverty reduction and production of goods and services and hence the need to engage the sector in such dialogues. "The engagement of the private sector in the EAC affairs has been both informal and formal and my objective is to leverage this engagement,” he says.The Secretary General’s Forum is being hosted in partnership with East African Business Council (EABC) and TradeMark East Africa.
