Editor,The media have reported that the Secretary General of the East African Community (EAC), Amb. Dr Richard Sezibera, last week received a delegation of US senators and member of the Congress, to whom he pointed out that the US business community should scale up their investments in the region.EAC has a huge potential but almost all the sectors remain largely unexploited. Yet if the region is to fully realise its ultimate development agenda, more investments will be needed in various sectors. There is no doubt that our economy is gradually taking shape. But it’s only through increased FDIs and a more robust industrial base that the achievements registered so far can be consolidated, to serve as a springboard for further progress. In Rwanda, I am proud to see the progress the country is making, especially as far as investments are concerned. After 18 years of relentless hard work, our economy is starting to take shape.Several mammoth infrastructural projects like roads, office blocks, hotels and shopping malls are coming up, especially in Kigali.  I, therefore, want to commend the government for its great effort towards the development of the country, but mainly for the fact that the economy has quickly stabilised and has attracted the international business community.
