MY new work place has wall to wall carpet, and it is a very comfortable environment especially when you are tired and want to remove your shoes like I always do when I am in a pensive writing mood. Apart from the fact that the carpet is comfortable to walk on, but it has also added the flavor of the interior décor of this office.Wall to wall carpeting is very good, but it comes with some extra work that most people find tedious.  When choosing a carpet, there are things that ought to be looked into; first of all, you have to make sure that whatever carpet you are choosing, should be in rhyme with the theme of your décor, otherwise it will look out of place.Carpets also come in four distinct styles; those are the plushes, textures, patterns and berbers. There are carpets that are soft, sensible or hard;out of all these will help you figure out which type of carpet is best for you. Some people think that a carpet with depth is always the best, well not necessarily, it is therefore very important to ask the experts and choose what fits your style.There are two carpet designs, plain and patterned carpets; while patterned carpets look beautiful, plain carpets are more favored because they are flexible in terms of coordinating with a wider range of furniture and color schemes.  In most offices plain carpets are favored the most because they match with most corporate colors.Plain colored carpets have a tendency to make large rooms look empty and uninteresting. However, it is advised to stick to plain carpets only if your furniture is bold and colorful.Another type of carpet is patterned carpet- this carpet is actually making a comeback. My uncle Yozefu and his beautiful wife Linda brought my mother a very beautiful carpet as a gift back in 1988, and up to date I have not forgotten how beautiful that carpet was.Locally, I have seen a wide range of patterned carpets to choose from at Nakumatt, Simba supermarket and the T2000. These also include classic florals, contemporary motifs or tartan. What I like about the patterned carpet is that it can act as the focal point of a room if you have plain walls and furniture. When selecting your carpet to coordinate with upholstery or drapery fabric, it is recommended to find a complementary shade of the dominant color instead of an exact match. Such coordination softens the decorating style, adding interest rather than rigidity. Also the color should go with the function of the area that you are carpeting; your family’s lifestyle should also help you determine how to balance these two situations. In a home where there are small children, it is advised to choose neutral tones that look like natural elements of wood or stone to disguise dirt.Once the carpets have been fixed they look very beautiful, but that is not all. Carpets should be washed at least twice a month with carpet treatments and cleaners, and then vacuumed; if not they can be very harmful to people’s health because they carry a lot of dirt. Wall to wall is the carpet way to go!
