HUYE – National University of Rwanda students, Wednesday night, staged a new play on Rwanda’s history and the aftermath of the Genocide , as part of the ongoing activities to mark the 18th anniversary of the 1994 Genocide against Tutsi.
HUYE – National University of Rwanda students, Wednesday night, staged a new play on Rwanda’s history and the aftermath of the Genocide , as part of the ongoing activities to mark the 18th anniversary of the 1994 Genocide against Tutsi.The play titled "Intego” (vision) was created and performed by Les Stars du Theatre, a students’ drama troupe.It reflects Rwanda’s history, before and after the Genocide, of a society that initially lived in harmony in the pre-colonial era, but was later pitted against each other, leading to the Genocide in 1994.The performance shows the survivors of the Genocide trying to rebuild a nation, which is portrayed by a scene where each of them is engaged activitin different skills y asuch as masonry, carpentry, taxi driving, video production, agriculture, mechanics, and so on.Hyppolite Ntigurirwa, director, the Stars du Theatre, said they perform a play annually to commemorate the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi.
