Cattle delivery declines slightly at Dar market

Average monthly supply of cattle at Pugu market in Dar es Salaam from upcountry declined by 5.2 per cent last month compared to the previous month.In March, an average of 765 cattle were supplied every market day while in February an average of 807 cattle were auctioned every market day.

Average monthly supply of cattle at Pugu market in Dar es Salaam from upcountry declined by 5.2 per cent last month compared to the previous month.In March, an average of 765 cattle were supplied every market day while in February an average of 807 cattle were auctioned every market day.A livestock market report by the ministry of Industry, Trade and Marketing indicates that there was a decline of price with male cattle, while mature male cattle grade two were sold at Sh725,000 each last month, down from Sh750,000 in February that of grade three was sold at Sh575,000 from Sh600,000 the previous month.According to the report, mature female cattle grade two and three prices went up by 1.1 per cent and 1.6 per cent respectively.Mature female grade two wewe sold at Sh590,000 each last month from 583,500 in February and mature female cattle grade three was last month sold at Sh551, 000 up from 542,000 a month before.
