Stop giving your children names with cynical overtones

Dear editor,

It is really disturbing; finding apparent who beyond all reasonable doubts loves his or her child, but then gives him dubious names with sinister implications. This has proved to be common in Rwanda as far as I’m concerned.

A child evaluation agent goes into the beneficiary children’s register but all he finds are names like; Bamporiki, ndimubanzi, mbarimombazi, baajagahe, and many others with such a cynical rhythm. What bothers me most is the fact that most of such kids are 10 years and below.

This raises a big question of whether those parents are upfront with us in the social reconstruction struggle or not. I urge all authorities in all walks of life to put a ban on the giving of such names to our innocent children.
