More people have been arrested in connection with the recent collapse of a storied building which killed one and injured seven.Theos Badege, the Police spokesperson told The New Times, yesterday, two more people had been arrested, bringing the number to four.According to Badege, the quartet includes two owners of the building and two contractors that were hired to carry out the demolition.The collapsed facility, known as Petit Meridien, was located opposite Hotel Umubano in Kacyiru, Kigali City.It collapsed on workers who were trying to demolish it, probably to pave way for redevelopment of the prime land. "We have transferred the files to prosecution and they will be charged with involuntary homicide because they led to loss of one person and injured many others,” Badege stated.Upon conviction, the suspects face between three months to two years and a fine of between Rwf 1,000 and 10,000,.Alain Mukuralinda, the spokesman for the National Public Prosecution Authority (NPPA), said they were yet to set the date when the suspects would be arraigned. "We are going to scrutinise the files this evening (yesterday), I cannot tell you when the suspects will appear in court,” he said.
